FUN&RUN takes place at the occasion of the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, on 17th of May. On this day, in 1990, the World Health Organization erased homosexuality from the official list of diseases.
The event is organized by Prague Pride Association, Czech AIDS Help Society and Alcedo, a LGBT sports club.
The proceeds raised from the run reached a record sum of 193,700 CZK. The money will be used to run the LGBT peer-to-peer mentoring website Sbarvouven.cz and the refuge for HIV+ persons the House of Light.
533 people registered for the run and 407 brave runners were present on the start line. 5 and 10 km routes for adults were accompanied by a kids' run for 300 meters. 45 children participated in the race and each one of them was awarded by a medal and a certificate.
HIV and syphilis speed-tests were performed in two mobile labs of the Czech AIDS Help Society. Altogether 141 tests were taken, all with negative results.
Apart from running, particitants of the event could enjoy great burgers, French fries and crepes. The biggest attraction was an ice cream truck with free ice cream by Ben&Jerry's. Kids could play in a kids's tent furnished by IKEA, dogs could get refresjment by a blue VW Beatle of the HUNTER company. OHm Square DJ Set and DJ Arnø played music from a stage.
