Five Czech non-profit organizations with LGBT outreach – Prague Pride, PROUD, Logos ČR, Mezipatra and Amnesty International – have formed a coalition to push together for gay and lesbian marriage rights in the Czech Republic. The campaign Jsme fér (We are fair), which focuses on the discrepancies in the rights of heterosexual and homosexual couples, started in the spring of 2017.

The campaign’s most important achievement has been so far collecting 70,000 signatures on a marriage equality petition. During the winter and spring of 2018 more than a hundred signature collection points sprung up across the country. Then, on May 1, the Jsme fér campaign successfully held an event to bake the country’s biggest wedding cake, which was recorded in the Czech book of records.

The Jsme fér campaign has been supported with video messages and signatures by Czech personalities such as actress Simona Stašová, singer Petra Janů, actors Jan Cina a Petr Vančura, actor Lukáš Hejlík and his wife, model Veronika Hejlíková, stand-up comedian and moderator Adéla Elbel, singer Ilona Csáková and others. Several companies and organizations have also come out in support of the campaign.
